Africa MAAFA Remembrance Day

The 13th Africa MAAFA Remembrance Day Conference is set for October 19 and will be held from 8:30am-11:50am at Laramie County Community College, Union Pacific Rooms, 1400 East College Drive. The event is free including breakfast and noon refreshments; and for the first time, on Friday, October 18, the Akua collection of prominent Black Studies and other books will be available, beginning 4:00pm-7:30pm and all day during conference hours, Saturday, October 19. The historical presenters are Karen Brooks-Lyons, Reverend Charles Allen, Fr. Tim Solon, Joyce Fitzhugh, Deacon Leon Reed, Reverend Bob and Holly Garrard, Elder C.J. Brown, Judge Ronn Jeffery, Mother Gertrude McLaughlin and Dr. James W. Peebles, Sankofa chairman. As is customary, during the 8:30am-9:05am kaffeeklatsch gathering, there will be an opportunity to meet and greet candidates running for political and nonpartisan offices, who will briefly address the audience at the beginning of the conference.
